'KIDSGAMES' - an international event!
KidsGames is a sport-focused, value-based, international
concept for Primary School aged children. It is run at community level by
interested groups and supported by local businesses and other organisations.
It brings together the children of a community to enjoy a program
of fun-filled activities in a safe and relaxed environment. As well
as the sports, games, creative arts, etc., the program teaches values that will
help the children succeed in life as well as in sport.
There
are KidsGames events happening on every continent and in a large number
of countries. After launching in the year 2000 in seven countries, it has
grown now to at least 150 countries participating. This number is continuing to
grow. Many millions of children have been involved in KidsGames around the world.
'KidsGames-Marrickville' - a local event!
KidsGames-Marrickville was launched in 2004 as a joint venture by Marrickville Church of Christ & Petersham Assembly of God. It started with 34 children at Wilkins Public School. In 2005 the event was moved to Marrickville High School, and over the last few of years it has attracted 80-100 children each year.
KidsGames is a not-for-profit event that is staffed by volunteers & supervised by experienced children's workers from Petersham AOG Children's Ministries. Generous support from local organisations and businesses has made it possible for registration fees to be kept to a minimum.
Our annual event is a 5 day programme [Mon-Fri] and runs from 9am to 3pm daily. The venue is Marrickville High School.
Sports that we have enjoyed include Oztag, Soccer, Cricket, Basketball & Volleyball.
Games are modified for the younger ones and we also have a variety of novelty games, including the world famous 'World Waterbucket Championship' - it's quite exciting!
